Chapter 7:  Job Descriptions:
Position: Hockey Director
General Responsibilities: Coordinate all aspects of the W.C.C hockey program to ensure a positive experience for children and volunteers.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Recruit and select members of the Hockey Committee.
  2. Attend RHCC Board meetings and report on the progress of the hockey program and any issues requiring the attention of the board.
  3. Represent the RHCC at all APHA meetings to present RHCC issues, and report any relevant developments to the RHCC board and other RHCC volunteers.
  4. Prepare the annual budget for the hockey program and set the registration fees.
  5. Approve the selection of all coaches.
  6. Represent the RHCC at meetings with the APHA clubs to set the team amalgamation plans for the current season.
  7. Chair meetings of the hockey committee.
  8. Prepare an annual calendar of activities for the Hockey Program.
  9. Approve any player transfers.
  10. Present revisions to the Hockey Handbook to the RHCC Board for approval.
  11. Remain open to all parents and volunteers, and resolve any issues referred to him/her by members of the Hockey Committee.
Position: House League Convenor
General Responsibilities: Coordinate all aspects of the House and Rec leagues.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Secure Initiation Program Instructors.
  2. Determine # of teams & schedule.
  3. Recruit coaches.
  4. Recruit age conveners.
  5. Coordinate team selection.
  6. Set outdoor practice times.
  7. Distribute equipment.

 

Position: Equipment Manager
General Responsibilities: Manage the purchase, storage, distribution, and retrieval of W.C.C. Hockey equipment.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Determine equipment requirements (uniforms, goalie equipment, misc.)
  2. Maintain stock records.
  3. Recommend purchase of new equipment.
  4. Distribute to traveling teams & house league.
  5. Collect deposits (at registration and if required)
  6. Refund deposits (to coaches and if required)
  7. Take stock and arrange cleaning at end of season.

 

Position: Hockey Handbook Convenor
General Responsibilities: Prepare the Hockey Handbook each year.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Make revisions to administrative information each year as required.
  2. Meet with Hockey Committee to prepare draft.
  3. Make recommendations for changes to policy if required.
  4. Submit to Hockey Committee for approval.
  5. Incorporate policy changes as directed by the Hockey Committee.
  6. Ensure that books are printed and distributed to members of the Hockey Committee and updated on Westdale C.C.'s website.

 

Position: Ice Manager
General Responsibilities: With help from the hockey conveners, manage the acquisition and allocation of all indoor and outdoor ice for the W.C.C. hockey program.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Recommend the purchase of extra ice as required.
  2. Advise Team Selection Convener of ice times for try-outs.
  3. Arrange changes to ice times as required as circumstances arise.

 

Position: Team Selection Convenor(s)
General Responsibilities: Manage the try-out process.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Determine # of players per team, in consultation with the other clubs being amalgamated.
  2. Organize on ice personnel.
  3. Recruit & select evaluators.
  4. Recruit and select age group conveners.
  5. Advise players of camps.
  6. Distribute pinnies to players and retrieve (for tryouts)
  7. Distribute selection information letter to parents & players.
  8. Ensure that age conveners advise all players where they are placed (all called the same day if possible).

Note: Number of teams, how amalgamated, and where hosted will be advised by the Hockey Director.

 

Position: Secretary-Treasurer
General Responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Record minutes of all committee meetings.
  2. Report on registration.
  3. Assist W.C.C. staff with any problems with registration.
  4. Assist the director in preparation of the budget and review of monthly statements.
  5. Special duties as assigned by the Hockey Director.
  6. Record receipts and disbursements from the hockey program account.
  7. Make recommendations to the Hockey Committee on the matters of financial management.

 

Position: Coach Convenor
General Responsibilities: Manage selection of all coaches.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Recruit coaches.
  2. Interview.
  3. Recommend coaches to the Hockey Director.
  4. Coach development.
  5. Evaluation.
  6. Recommend discipline, if necessary.

 

Position: Associate Hockey Director
General Responsibilities: Assist the Hockey Director in all aspects and to organize fund raising activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Organize the running of Rob-West Conditioning Camp from Westdale C.C.'s side.
  2. Organize the year end Coaches Appreciation Social in conjunction with Roblin Park Community Centre.
  3. Coordinate activities on Rob-West Fall Classic Tournaments.
  4. Act on behalf of the Hockey Director when required.

 

Position: Rob-West Fall Classic Tournament Convener
General Responsibilities: Coordinate with the counterpart from Roblin Park C.C. the running of the Rob-West Fall Classic Tournament.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Establish committee to run the tournament.
  2. Book ice for the tournament.
  3. Solicit teams for tournament.
  4. Establish budget and entry fees.
  5. Prepare program of team names, etc.
  6. Secure advertising and major sponsors.
  7. Purchase trophies and "give aways".
  8. Prepare overall plan on the above for the approval of the Hockey Committee.

 

Position: Rob-West Conditioning Camp Convener
General Responsibilities: Coordinate with counter part from Roblin Park C.C. the overall running of the camp.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Establish the committee to work on the camp.
  2. Send out registration forms and solicit participators and secure payments.
  3. Book ice.
  4. Divide players into groups.
  5. Select instructors and prepare format and drill outline.
  6. Advise participants of times.
  7. Prepare, distribute and return to the Hockey Director feedback questionnaire.
  8. Make recommendations on the running of the camp for the following year.
